General Contractors

Post opportunities, find subcontractors and manage your bid process.

What is BuildersBids, and how can it help my company?

BuildersBids is a construction marketplace that helps you present project opportunities, find subcontractors and organize the bidding process. You can identify required trades, share appropriate project information and compare proposals.

Can I use BuildersBids to find projects as well as subcontractors?

General contractors can post opportunities for subcontractors. Owner-posted opportunities provide another route to potential work. Review the opportunities and access requirements available to your account.

Are there monthly or annual membership fees?

BuildersBids uses transaction-based access rather than requiring a broad subscription for the standard workflow. Optional features and selected opportunities may involve separate charges.

Does posting a project cost anything?

Standard general-contractor project posting has no platform listing charge. Optional paid features are separate, and their prices are displayed before activation.

Pricing →

What should I include in a project posting?

Include a clear scope, general location, required trades, anticipated schedule and bid deadline. Relevant plans, specifications and photographs help subcontractors understand what you need.

Can one project include several trades?

Yes. Identify the trades needed and attach the appropriate files to each trade so bidders can review the work relevant to them.

Who can see my project plans?

Trade plans are protected through the platform's access workflow. Purchasing access to one trade does not authorize access to another trade's restricted files.

Trust & Security →

Can I limit the number of bidders?

An optional limited-bid configuration is available. Review its conditions before activation. A limit on available positions does not promise that every position will produce a proposal.

Will I receive a guaranteed number of bids?

No. Responses depend on contractor interest, location, scope and availability. A complete posting can make the opportunity easier to evaluate.

Do I have to choose the lowest bidder?

Your selection should consider the entire proposal: scope coverage, experience, schedule, exclusions and qualifications. A lower price may exclude work that another proposal includes.

Does BuildersBids verification replace my subcontractor checks?

No. Independently evaluate licensing, insurance, references, capacity and suitability before hiring.

Does accepting a bid replace a subcontract agreement?

No. A platform acceptance records the workflow. Use a complete written agreement covering scope, payment, schedule and other construction terms.

Subcontractors

Find relevant work, understand trade access and submit a professional proposal.

How can BuildersBids help me find work?

Browse project opportunities relevant to your trade and service area. Review the public summary, select an appropriate opportunity and use the available bidding workflow to submit your proposal.

Can I review an opportunity before purchasing access?

Yes. Public project summaries help you assess whether an opportunity fits. Protected plans and details require the applicable access.

Am I required to purchase a subscription or a bundle of leads?

The standard workflow allows you to select individual trade opportunities instead of purchasing unrelated leads. Check the conditions of the opportunity you choose.

What am I paying for?

You are purchasing the specified project-trade access. The purchase provides access under that product's conditions; it does not purchase a construction contract or guarantee an award.

How It Works →

How do I know the price?

Review the amount, project, trade and product displayed before payment. The applicable checkout price controls that transaction.

Pricing →

Does one purchase unlock every trade on a project?

No. Access is trade-specific. Check each trade's requirements before purchasing additional access.

Will paying for access guarantee that I win the job?

No. The hiring party evaluates proposals and decides whom to select.

What should I check before buying access?

Review the location, trade, scope, schedule and your company's capacity. Confirm that you can reasonably price and perform the work before committing.

What should a professional proposal include?

State the work included, price, materials, labor, assumptions, exclusions, anticipated schedule and proposal expiration. Clearly identify alternates and anything requiring clarification.

What if the plans are unclear?

Use the available platform communication process to request clarification. Identify unresolved assumptions in your proposal rather than silently pricing an uncertain scope.

Can I access private contact information immediately?

Contact details may remain protected until the applicable workflow permits disclosure. Use authorized communication options rather than trying to bypass access restrictions.

Can I share purchased plans with another company?

Do not redistribute restricted materials or give another company unauthorized access. Contact support if project performance requires a sharing arrangement that the platform does not clearly permit.

Homeowners

Prepare your project, compare contractors and make informed hiring decisions.

Can I use BuildersBids for a home improvement project?

Yes. The owner marketplace covers construction, remodeling, repairs, maintenance and improvements.

Do I need to be a contractor to post my project?

No. Owners and authorized representatives can request work through the owner workflow.

What should I prepare before posting?

Prepare a description of the work, photographs, any available plans and your preferred timing. Explain what you want to change and what you expect the finished result to accomplish.

What if I do not know which trades I need?

Describe the outcome in plain language. For a bathroom, for example, explain whether you are replacing finishes, relocating plumbing or changing the layout. Ask prospective contractors to explain the trades and coordination required.

Can I post if I do not have architectural plans?

Describe what you currently have. Some work can be discussed from photographs and a written scope; other work may require professional drawings before reliable pricing or construction.

Is my private contact information publicly displayed?

Creating an owner account or posting a project does not automatically make your private contact information public. Authorized marketplace interactions may involve disclosure under the applicable privacy rules.

Privacy Policy →

What information should I keep out of my posting?

Avoid access codes, identification documents, financial records and unnecessary personal details. Check photographs and plans for sensitive information before uploading them.

Will I receive a guaranteed number of contractor responses?

No. Response volume and timing vary. Avoid treating a posting as a promise that contractors will bid or that work will begin by a particular date.

How should I compare contractor estimates?

Compare the same scope across proposals. Look at materials, preparation, cleanup, exclusions, allowances, schedule and warranty terms, not just the total price.

What should I check before hiring?

Independently evaluate licensing where applicable, insurance, experience and references. Ask who will perform and supervise the work.

Who is responsible for the construction work?

Your selected contractor is responsible under your construction agreement. BuildersBids operates the marketplace and is not the contractor performing the work.

Owner Marketplace Rules →

What if I want to change the project after hiring?

Request a written change order identifying the revised scope, price and schedule before the additional work begins. Keep a copy with your project records.

Business Owners & Property Managers

Plan commercial work, coordinate site access and reduce disruption.

Can BuildersBids be used for commercial or property improvement work?

The owner marketplace includes business owners, property owners, property managers and authorized representatives seeking construction-related services.

Can I post a project for property I manage but do not own?

Yes, provided you have lawful authority to request and manage that work.

What additional information should a commercial posting include?

Describe occupancy, operating hours, access restrictions, delivery requirements and any limits on noise or shutdowns. Explain who approves the work and who coordinates site access.

Can I seek proposals for work outside normal business hours?

State that requirement clearly. Ask each contractor to confirm availability and identify any effect on pricing or scheduling.

How can I reduce disruption to my business?

Ask bidders for a phasing plan covering affected areas, temporary closures, dust control, deliveries and cleanup. Discuss continuity of operations before selecting a contractor.

What should I ask about insurance and qualifications?

Ask for documentation appropriate to the work and property. Confirm requirements with your organization, property manager or insurer before contracting.

Can a contractor promise that my business will remain open throughout construction?

Ask for a written plan and its assumptions. Some work may require closures, utility interruptions or restricted access. Resolve those conditions before signing.

How should I compare commercial proposals?

Use a consistent scope and request clear breakdowns for major work items, alternates and exclusions. Check whether each proposal addresses your operating and access requirements.

Can I require a site visit before final pricing?

State that expectation in the project requirements and arrange it through authorized communication. Confirm access and any site safety requirements beforehand.

Who handles permits, inspections and approvals?

Determine what the project requires and specify responsibility in the construction agreement. Do not assume marketplace participation includes permit management.

What should the final contract address?

Include scope, price, payment milestones, schedule, change orders, insurance requirements, site responsibilities, warranties and closeout documents appropriate to the project.

What if several people in my organization approve the work?

Identify the decision maker, authorized signer and project contact. Explain the approval sequence so contractors understand when a proposal can become an authorized contract.

Payments, Access & Support

Get help with checkout, access, billing and account questions.

Who processes platform payments?

Stripe processes platform payments. BuildersBids does not receive or store the complete payment-card number or security code.

When does paid access activate?

Access activates after BuildersBids verifies the completed payment and applicable access conditions. Opening checkout alone does not activate access.

Payments & Refunds →

I was charged, but access did not activate. Should I pay again?

No. Contact support with your account email, project, trade and checkout or receipt reference.

Contact & Support →

Can I get a refund if I do not win the job?

Not winning a contract is not a qualifying refund reason under the published Payment and Refund Policy. Paid access is generally nonrefundable after it activates or is used.

Payments & Refunds →

What payment issues can be reviewed?

Duplicate or unauthorized charges and certain verified technical failures may qualify for review. Review does not guarantee a refund; the published policy and applicable law govern.

A marketplace access purchase is separate from the construction payment arrangement you negotiate with the selected contractor. Review your contract before making construction payments.
